Being proactive in your marketing efforts will put you ahead of the competition
You are probably already aware of the fact that most marketing teams are reactive in their day to day and month to month marketing practices.
Hopefully you aren’t, but in today’s fast paced economy, marketing teams are constantly under pressure to deliver new and engaging campaigns.
Today we are going to take a look at whether you are more of a proactive or reactive digital marketer.
Unfortunately, many marketing teams are reactive in their approach to brainstorming new ideas and executing their marketing campaigns. Even something as simple as a monthly newsletter can be done on the fly.
Bring reactive can introduce stress hormones like cortisol and epinephrine to be released into your body, producing the flight or fight response. As you can imagine, it’s hard to be creative and productive when you are under stress.
What is the problem with having too many great marketing ideas?
The reality, is that most organisations are not short of great marketing ideas but simply lack the time and systems to get them to the market in a timely fashion.
Every marketing executive knows the pain of the last-minute, game-changing idea that just has to be done by Friday. You and your team pull several all-nighters, focused on bringing what could be the biggest lead generating campaign to market. But the long hours and late nights are unfortunately the least effective way to deliver your best material.
Being proactive with an editorial calendar
Being proactive is where we like to have our clients by having an established content marketing strategy mapped out. We like to combine this with an editorial calendar, so you aren’t stressing about each new piece of content being produced.
As an example, in the case of the weekly or fortnightly newsletter, we like to have at least 2-3 months mapped out so we can focus on getting the best content to your clients in a timely manner.
Likewise, if we are creating ideas and content for new blog posts, infographics or video, we love to have 1-3 months mapped out so our creative energies are focused on the new content, instead of the fight or flight response.
